Successful Completion of Safaricom Lewa Half-Marathon
Our runners completed the Safaricom Half-Marathon in Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya. The runners were successful in running this challenging, hilly, high altitude course through beautiful game land. They finished the course with big smiles and great stories. They were lucky enough to seem some animals on the run, including buffalo, giraffe and ostrich. After this amazing run the team had a wonderful lunch at Trout Tree Restaurant in Nanyuki, Kenya and then headed to the Kenyan Coast of Mombasa to rejuvenate and relax after many months of training. Check out our photos on Facebook. If you are interested in more information on our 2014 trips please contact us now.
Congratulations runners!
We have an information session and are opening registration this Saturday July 20th from 2-3 p.m. PST. in Berkeley, California, though you can join us over skype from anywhere in the world. Contact us to RSVP and for more information.
Fundraising for Safaricom Marathon is going well but a little more to go
I just wanted to thank everyone who has helped our team so far get closer and closer to our fundraising goal. You've all been so generous. We still have a little way to go and two of our runners still need some help getting to their $1500 minimum. Our team deadline is May 23rd, 2013. In support of Kenya: Lisa’s gripping story about a journey around the world in 366 days in search of leading activists for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality
Lisa Dazols is not a preacher. But when she took the floor, you could hear a pin drop at Oakland’s Plymouth United Church of Christ, in California, on Saturday.
She was speaking as the chief guest at a fundraising gathering in support of Tusk Trust, which focuses on wildlife conservation, community and education development in Kenya. The fundraiser was organized by Kenyan born and US certified coach, Cory Nyamora. He is training runners who will be competing in Kenya in support of the project.
When Jenni and Lisa first fell in love, they vowed to follow a life of adventure. But this business manager and social worker had no idea that their promise would lead them to leave their 9-5 jobs, pick up a video camera, and travel through Asia, Africa and South America in search of the people who are leading the movement for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality.
Lisa narrated their yearlong journey through 15 countries. Even more breathtaking was the couple’s video-journal footage of their interviews of LGBT leaders highlighting their experiences in Kenya and East Africa. Visit the Out and Around Website.
We are grateful to Lisa for sacrificing her weekend break to support Tusk Trust.
If you wish to help this worthy project, please email us or donate online. Feel free to allocate funds to any of the participants who are fundraising for Tusk Trust – Ayofemi, Chris, Maggie or Cory.
Everyone of them needs to raise at least the $1500 to support Tusk Trust.
Also thanks to all the sponsors who helped us with the fundraiser:
Leon Augustine, Financial Advisor – Edward Jones.
Erica Britton PsyD. - Akiwa Wellness
Christian Bryan, Personal Trainer - Gen-XL
Amy Fogliani, Coordinator, Marketing and Recruitment – School of Education, University of San Francisco
Davina Kotulski, PhD. Randy Lind, CMT – Oakland Manual Therapy
Rev. Marjorie Matthews – Plymouth United Church of Christ

Successful Sponsorship of Rhodes Race
Endurance Staff enjoyed sponsoring Rhodes Race 5K on Sunday April 14th. This event is a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We met lots of wonderful people, some of us ran the race (Wade) and we presented medals to the winners. This is by far one of our favorite races of the year! Check out our Endurance Website for the story and photos.
